n the states and Canada, mums to be can have a non medical 3d ultrasound done in non medical centres.
These are done at around 18 weeks onward and give a very clear image of the baby.
The centres are quite lavish and cater for family groups, so that all the family may see, and hear the new babies heartbeat on a large screen in full colour.
The cost is from around $100, for slightly more the mum gets a disk with the images on it and hard copies.
I would be most interested to hear what mums to be (and their family)think about having a 3D non medical ultrasound.

hello i had a troubled pregnacy so i had to have a ultrasound every 3 weeks which most of them were 3d. They were great you see everything much better and at least you have a better peace of mind.
My little baby boy was fine and healthy but it was great to see him for the first time on that screen. Congratulations |

I have heard (and you can Google it) that Ultrasound can damaged the nervous system of a developing baby- like a high pitched sound can smash glass
So I don't think it's a good idea...
I didn't have a scan for my last baby, and he never cried for 6 months of his life!
Only when he started teething he did! Not sure if avoiding the scan had anything to do with it, or not, but they say that the scans are linked to ADHD
cheers,
