CAUTION IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST
________________________________________
Attention The Managers
O’Brien Glass with (not much) Care
Head Office
45 Davies Rd
Padstow
Dear Sirs;
On Thursday 29-7-04 my car sustained a small star break (covered with a five cent coin) to the front windscreen, after getting comparable quotes I chose O’Briens, not because you are the cheapest (because your not) but because I mistakenly felt more comfortable with you when your operator at the 131616 call center advised that “the repair wouldn’t be visible”, and some notion that you people sounded professional. Hence the “repair” was booked for the following day.
Upon arrival your technician advised that the repair was not a problem, with further questioning however the story now was, that “it would be only sligthly visible”, due to the hardener, I was now told it would take on a very dull appearance, pointing to some dried up transparent rain drop residue. I was “visibly” not impressed after being previously told otherwise, so he advised of the benefits of going ahead with the “repair” which was then performed in 15 minutes.
Sirs, please be advised, that your so called “repair” and "great result" was less than satisfactory and you should be embarrassed, in fact the damage to the screen has been made worse with the cracking now very visible and spread to the size of a fifty cent coin. He had admitted he can see the result, but get this, now I am being told that this very unsightly spread is normal. If this is so, with your experience – why wasn’t I told ? I would have saved you the trouble of coming out, why didn’t your resin / hardener fill these cracks also. He even presented me with the invoice for payment (you people must think the public are gullible fools, perhaps some are easily conned and CONvinced or intimidated by your incompetent technicians) but when I refused to pay he stated that I’d be hearing from you, than left.
Sirs, I saved you the trouble because I got straight on the phone to your call center and after being told the problem they transferred me to the branch in question, which I believed to be Parramatta and spoke to a man identifying himself as Dario who said he’d be out to see me next week (now past) to see the screen and that he wouldn’t let me down ?.
Sirs, Is this so called “repair” some sort of a scam or ploy to exacerbate damage using your so called guarantee as a double dip to then $ell more screens.
Consequently, as to date I haven’t heard from anyone and no one seems in a hurry to get back to me, I’ll reiterate my request to Dario (O’Brien glass with care) – I would appreciate a new genuine Rodeo screen and fitted properly at no cost to myself, since the damage has been exacerbated by yourselves, and I trust that for now the matter will be attended to and resolved. Clearly you recognise you’re at fault, not to be vigorously chasing payment, however, if recovery is in progress I’d suggest you view your handy work first unless of course you are accustomed to this experience in which case you may otherwise consider that since no money had changed hands, that you are not obliged, then consider this – you are responsible for your own incompetence, as an O’Brien van, and work being performed openly on my car was witnessed by many in my office complex, who I have since learnt had noted my discontent, and that sirs, is your first bad referral, by X number of people .
I trust that for now, O’Brien are a credible company wanting to be 'seen' and heard to be doing the right thing, if not you shouldn’t be in the game.
Yours sincerely

| So, they could not save it, and you want them to pay for a new one? Because they made the mistake of saying "we might not be able to save it"? Of course, this would have meant you'd have gone else-where ... until you found someone who didn't say that, and then screwed up. So, you're on a winner, no matter what. or maybe not. |

Mate,
I have learned from experience, forget about bloody repairs & just install a new one, the're cheap these days for most run-of -the-mill cars.
Not worth the valuable time you have put in to this saga. |
