I have a lot of lookers but have only sold one item. I guess it depends on what you have to sell. Did someone say EBay bought out gumtree! Hope not as EBay now is TOO EXPENSIVE to sell on. Embarassed

It is such a good site on the surface.I advertise things and get heaps of lookers but no enquiries though. It is definetly not my pricing as I sell similar things on Ebay without any trouble.

I've had a lot of success with selling stuff on gumtree - people selling just need to be realistic about the prices they ask for; you get greedy, and you'll get no interest in your item. It's sometimes the choice between it gathering dust in the garage or being sold to someone who can put the item to use (and a few extra $$ in your pocket).

I advertised a fridge once and had 10 replies within half a day. Other things like some old suitcases drew no replies, even though I was more or less giving them away.

Well I've been trying to sell a gym membership for a while now, and still no luck. Quite a few lookers, but nothing. Is it my pricing? I paid $645 for the membership and I'm advertising it for $400 O.N.O

I'm planning to lose money on it, but isn't $245 enough?? Sad Question

I have only recently started using gumtree and have listed 3 guitars in the last few weeks. So far I've had over 500 "looks" but only 1 email response which wasn't successful. Any hints about how to improve the response rate? I think my asking prices are pretty reasonable and include a statement in each ad saying that "all reasonable offers will be considered". Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to buy a bed on gumtree and have sent several e-mail to sellers and Gumtree itself and had no replies at all. Very disappointed at this moment as to whether anyone answers e-mails or actually receives them.

I bought a bed on gumtree on the weekend and had no hassles whatsoever, bed was exactly as described, the girls even went out of their way to drop it off to me when my ride fell through, for a little extra, which was awesome!

Maybe you're asking about a bed I already bought lol

I think it's more about supply and demand, I might check a guitar out but I can't play one and certainly can't afford to buy an instrument I can't play *shrug* Maybe there just aren't enough people on here who can, and who can spare the cash for one right now.

No one I've spoken to knows about gumtree though so I tell people a lot to get a bit more traffic, maybe there's just not enough people visiting yet...

I'm having trouble even trying to BUY something. For instance, I'm interested in one of those Sony PS3's and have emailed the sellers over the past few days none of them have replied at all, except one which basically was a scammer as he was in England apparently and would post from the at way under cost. yadda yadda,.

I've had plenty of lookers and a couple that according to the records have emailed me but I never those email inquiries even though I got others, so who knows.

Apparently so, according to someone posting in another area of the discussion board here;

I think its to do with the item. I've sold some stuff quickly and others haven't sold. Fridges go quickly. Have bought stuff too.

Do definitely get lots of enquires that don't pan out and also lots of people don't respond when you wan to buy something.
Definitely less dodgy responses than listings on other sites. Pretty good. Pity about ebay...i imagine fees will follow.

I have put heaps of adds on this site and have not had one reply to any add. Heaps of lookers, no buyers, and I sell items BNWT. very reasonable price.
I have also replied to many ads with enquiries about certain things and still,
never a reply back. I am beginning to think this site is dodgy.
