I wanted to let everyone know that we have a brand new "Maps" feature on all Australian Gumtrees!
Now, whenever you post an ad, you have the ability to include your location so it appears as a map on your ad.
We hope this will make you much easier to find, as people can see exactly where you are!
To view maps on current ads, simply click the "View Map" link near the top of the ad.
We hope you enjopy this feature and it makes using Gumtree a whole lot easier, and as per usual, please let us know if you have any feedback on this.

Thanks y'all!

Here's my feedback, stuff missing from mapquest that is on google maps...
* No street numbers
* No dragging around the map(has to reload the whole web page to move a small step)
* No satellite view

The whole thing looks very amateur compared to google maps.

In the future google maps will have street view like in the US, this would be very good to look at to see the neighbourhood.

One step at a time!

You can't expect Gumtree to suddenly go from 0 to 100% in one go.
Plus google have a massive team of people and generate a lot of revenue due to the amount of traffic they get.
If Gumtree were to incorporate the same info, they would need a much larger team or pay to use google's information. Which would mean they will need to start charging to place ads or have their website full of sponsored ads (which may still happen in the future of course).
No-one wants this to happen so I think its actually a user friendly tool to help users get an idea of where the suburb is located - especially as there are many non-local people using the site.

If you want more info then go and use google maps.
