Just a warning to everyone out there selling items, there are people out there doing fraud deals originating from this website. Please try and keep away from any transactions done through Paypal as it could be fraud and you could end out losing a lot of money. Fell for this and just lost $600
If your buyer persists on doing things through Paypal and asks you to put money up front for delivery changes and tells you transfer it via Western Union dont do it! Its most likely a scam!
Please be very careful! |

PayPal is wholly-owned by eBay -- who also own Gumtree.
PayPal has apparently become a very risky proposition as far as a reliable exchange of funds for goods bought or sold.
Check this site out for example:
www.paypalsucks.com/
There's also a very enlightening article about the facilitating and concealing of fraud that's currently being condoned by eBay here:
www.auctionbytes.com/forum/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=24033
You'll find a fully-documented case history there, with eBay screen-shots, and also details of so-called "shill bidding" carried out through eBay, and how that can even affect Gumtree members' transactions further down the track -- by falsely elevating prices paid by buyers.
I've personally seen several "shill bidders" operating dummy eBay accounts through Gumtree in recent times.
Take care folks! |
