Hello all,

We have had feedback regarding the quality of the ads on the site and wanted to advise that we hear you.

As you are all aware we are in constant battle with people who post non-compliant and potentially fraudulent ads everyday and this is why we appreciate all your help in highlighting these ads as some are undetected by our support staff. Please continue to highlight these ads so we can remove them from the site in a prompt manner and adjust our support efforts to catch a higher rate of ads with the information you provide!

As all of you can can imagine there are thousands of ads posted on Gumtree daily and we do not review all ads that are posted. We rely on our Gumtree community members to help us keep the site clean to highlight non-compliant ads. However there can always be improvement and we are continually looking to make further improvements so that we can ensure the site is kept as “clean” as possible. Please do let us know via the “Report this ad” section within each ad if you spot any ads in the future that you feel we should take a look at and please refrain from posting ads that list fraudulent ads in our categories, instead simply report these to us and we will review these immediately.

Remember Gumtree is like an online bulletin board simply connecting people. Gumtree is all about local trade so we encourage local face to face meetings, that way you can protect yourself against fraudsters. Do not put yourself in a potentially dangerous position by buying from/selling or giving information to someone outside your area. Additionally, Gumtree does not offer any type of purchase protection, secure transaction or payment tools when buying or selling. So if someone is telling you that they are not in town, cannot meet up with you, will ship the item, keys to that bargain rental locally/from overseas and if they ask you to transfer money via western union/money gram or any other payment method other then cash, it is potentially a scam.

We always encourage you to take a look at our Safety Tips information for dealing with ads listed under specific categories under Help: http://sydney.gumtree.com.au/p-SafetyTips and if you believe our community needs to be further advised about certain scams please let others know via sharing your experiences on our forums. Also you can refer to helpful sites such as ---scamwatch.gov.au/content/index.phtml/tag/InternetScams to stay up to date on current internet scams.

Once again we are sorry about the inconvenience this is causing and we hope that future experiences with Gumtree are much more positive.

With your much appreciated help we will get there!

Thanks

The Gumtree team
