Hi Guys,

I am happy to let you all know that the small issue we had with locations not appearing in posting has now been sorted!
Now, when you post an ad, you are asked to choose your location which will appear next to the title of your ad when other users are browsing through the ads.

As a local community classifieds site, we understand how important location is when searching through postings, so we see this as a big improvement that will hopefully make your visit to Gumtree far easier.

As always, we would love any feedback you may have on this, so please let us know.

Cheers,

Roo-man

Thanks for inserting the location sorting option.

There is still a problem though. Is there any reason why you can't actually just type in a particular suburb rather than only having the option of Sydney or Greater Sydney etc?

I mean currently there are nearly 2,500 ads for rental property in 'Sydney'. So I still don't think it has solved the problem of which suburb it is in unless the ad has specified it in the heading.

Or have a jumped the gun and all the existing ads have been converted to this format and all new ads will have the option of actually typing in your suburb rather than the region?

The Melbourne gumtree is not fixed at all in relation to the suburb coming up next to the title.
Maybe if your not going to fix the Melbourne one, can you at least put a note for people posting to include their suburb in the title.

Also the Short term accomodation does not have a seperate section for wanted / offering, It just goes into one and is very confusing for people.

Re-Posting adds is getting really bad, in the past I used to get around 50 replys to any adds within the first 3 or 4 days, and now after the first 24 hours I only get 3 or 4 replys, and none at all after the first 24 hours. To get any more responses the add has to be totally re-posted from scratch, or people just dont look past the first 2 pages.

The old gumtree was Awesome and i used it since 2003, why change something that was working so well!

You need to bring back easy search options such as price, suburb, room for couple etc.

Please gumtree just go back to the old site, until the new site can be fixed.

A friend of mine and I both feel the new Gumtree makes it more difficult to get enough repilies when advertising rooms in our share houses-.especially
as one's ad disappears so quickly, down through the pages of listing. The 120 day rule is ---,and it would help if you brought an edit forward as you used to. I put in one on 8/6 and reedited it substantially on 17/8 about3.30am but hardly anyone will see it as it appears to be staying at 8/6. Hope you'll consider a change? thanks anyway,Tarzan.

Hi everyone,

You will be happy to know that locations in Melbourne are now sorted. Once people start selecting a location when they post an ad it will become much easier to search and browse for ads in specific locations.

Bye for now,

Hi again Gumtree, and others.I had no trouble putting district on accomodation ads-in Sydney..Typing in suburb seems the easiest way to find them, cross referencing date inserted helps.
Would suggest perhaps a category of suburbs adjacent to, or quite near City centres-perhaps split into North/Sth E/West eg East Sydney/king's cross/darlo/paddo.[East]
Surry Hills/camperdown/glebe {South] etc.
This would be a good guide for backpackers and new arrivals who often seek places close to the city.
Just a Suggestion!.......Tarzan

Hi have been unable to find a housemate for 6 weeks now due to this issue. I have to completely re-write my ad every second day - or I dont get any replies. Is there any way that gumtree staff can help with this as it is very difficult to manage?

Please help... Crying or Very sad

Hi there,
Just a small comment. It is great the suburb is now compulsory, but it would be great if suburbs with similar names in different cities can be selected. At the moment when I type Eastwood (even if I add South Australia or SA), it displays the Sydney suburb with the same name on the map. Obviously that would be rather wrong, so I add Adelaide as a general suburb to my ads.
I have written about this before and hope something can be done about this suburb (but presumably there are others out there).
Thanks,
Jude
